This past Sunday, August 3rd was Kapono's 9th Birthday. We celebrated as a family with a wonderful Sunday dinner complete with a Birthday cake and ice cream. This year has been an awesome one for Kapono, especially academically for he finished his 3rd grade year with an entire report card full of A's. He hopes he can do it again in the 4th grade. We wish him another year full of wonderful things (including good grades). We love you Kapono!

Happy 11th Birthday Atu!!!
This past Wednesday, July 23rd was Atu's birthday and an exciting one for him too. For the last few months Atu has glued himself to the MTV show America's Best Dance Crew, trying to pick up some of the hottest hip-hop dance moves. So for his birthday, I thought it would be fun if I arranged for him to take a hip-hop dance class. He totally loved it! In fact, the teacher asked if he would like to audition for their hip-hop dance team. So Atu, Kapono and Charity all decided to attend an audition and all 3 were invited to be on the hip-hop dance team. Atu was so excited and has been practicing ever since. Looks like he is going to have an awesome year!
How Does Your Garden Grow
On Friday, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th, Shalia performed in her first play called "How Does Your Garden Grow" with the local community musical theater. In the performance, Shalia played a Butterfly where she danced and sang in the chorus. She only had a few lines to say, but she did an awesome job. It was wonderful to watch her "stretches her wings" with her passion and love for music.

And to our family and friends (and even those we don't know) that serve in the Military, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for protecting what we as Americans treasure most, Freedom.

Thinking of you Dad...
Today marks 15 years since the passing of our father/grandfather Wilmont Kamaunu Kahaialii, Sr. Being the first born daughter automatically qualified me as "Daddy's girl", a brand I have worn proudly throughout my life. I remember in the 5th grade we were told to write a story about our favorite hero. I'll never forget the sweet remarks my teacher left on my essay entitled, "My Mom is my Best Friend, But my Dad is my Hero". It was a true description of the way I felt about my father and the loving relationship we shared. I will never forget his love for his family, his love for the Lord and his love for our Hawaiian Heritage. My dad was a man that lived the "Aloha Spirit", which in his words was the same as living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will never forget that and I will live each day of my life sharing that as he taught me. Thank you Dad! I love you.

Jordan Sparks in Concert
Wednesday, June 25th was a "Girls Night Out"! Charity, Shalia and myself were invited by the "Ragigia girls" (Fia, Edenlee, Liku and one of the newest additions to the Ragigia's, Maresi) to attend a Jordan Sparks Concert at the SCERA in Orem. It was such a blast! The entire day was spent primping and pruning...it was so much fun. Charity got a new hair do complete with highlights, she and Shalia got "super cute" outfits from one of their favorite clothing stores called 'Justice' and in the afternoon, they got their nails painted and new shoes. We were ready to go! We all went out to dinner together and then headed for the concert. When we got there, we were really nervous because this place was completely packed, but while we were standing talking to an usher, a sweet angel of a girl came and asked us if we needed a place to sit and gave us awesome seats! We sang and danced the night away! It was a memorable night that we will never forget.

Piano Recital
On Wednesday, June 18th, Shalia performed at her 2nd piano recital. Though she had use of only one "good" hand to play, she did a great job and we congratulate her for another successful year learning the piano. Her love for music has influenced both Atu and Charity, who now wants to learn to play the guitar and violin. Perhaps next recital we will have a trio.
